CRS Resource are proud to support a culture where conversations around mental health are encouraged, and everyone feels supported. We understand that working in construction and rail isn’t easy and can be very demanding. Long hours, tough environments, and time away from home can take their toll not just physically but mentally too. It’s not always obvious when someone is struggling, that’s where we can take action and encourage mental health to be a part of our everyday conversations.
Check in: A simple ‘are you okay’ can go further than you think.
Listen: You don’t need to know all the answers, just giving someone the space to talk can make a huge difference.
Support them: If someone needs more support than you can provide, help them find it.
Our mental health mascot, Mallard, is here to remind us all to take a moment, check in with ourselves and with each other, and prioritise what really matters.
Encouraging open discussions around mental health invites us to break the silence, to replace the shame with compassion, and the judgement with understanding. We want to remind you that it’s okay to talk about your mental health today, tomorrow and every day after that.
We also want to remind all of our workforce that 24/7 support is always available for you and your immediate family through our Employee Assistance Programme - Wellbeing Solutions. This confidential service provides access to professional advice, counselling, and guidance on a wide range of issues – whether personal, work-related, or financial. It’s available when you need it, offering a safe space to talk to trained professionals.
In addition to our EAP, there are also external organisations ready to help. The Samaritans are available 24 hours a day for anyone who needs to talk – call 116 123. CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) also offers support, particularly focused on preventing suicide and supporting mental wellbeing – call 0800 58 58 58. Both services are free, confidential, and there for you whenever you need someone to listen.
Mental wellbeing is just as important as physical wellbeing, and it’s something we all share responsibility for. By checking in with ourselves and each other, using
the support available, and keeping conversations going, we can help create a culture where everyone feels valued and supported.
Remember – you’re not alone, and there is always support available to you. Together let’s build safer sites – physically and mentally.
