An Intro from Richard D Smith, CEO
March has been a fantastic month for CRS, and there is plenty to celebrate as we head further into 2026.
We were proud to mark International Women's Day this month, a cause I'm personally passionate about supporting. It's an important moment to reflect on the brilliant contributions women make within CRS and across our industry and to reaffirm our commitment to an inclusive and diverse workforce.
On the events front, it has been a busy period out on the road. We attended the Rail Industry Networking (RIN) event in London, which was a brilliant opportunity to showcase what CRS does, meet new connections, and reconnect with familiar faces from across the rail sector. We also visited DPRTE at Farnborough, an incredible event that provided a real insight into the MOD supply chain landscape and the opportunities emerging across defence.
We are also incredibly proud to see our new company fleet out on the road which is already turning heads. The feedback has been wonderful, with lots of positive comments coming in about our new company strapline, Multi-Skilled - Multi-Sector which we feel perfectly captures who we are and what we deliver for our clients and candidates alike.
On the business side, tendering activity is at a real high and recruitment is busier than ever. We are therefore, growing our internal team, with an exciting opportunity available for a Recruitment Consultant to join CRS, focused on building our professional services division. Watch this space!
CRS at RIN London - Connecting the Rail Industry
The CRS Resource team recently attended RIN London, one of the UK's leading Railway Infrastructure Networking events and it proved to be a fantastic day. The event brought together some of the brightest minds and most influential businesses across the rail sector, and we were proud to be part of it. From insightful conversations on the exhibition floor to catching up with familiar faces, the day was a great reminder of just how dynamic and collaborative the rail infrastructure community is.
It was particularly rewarding to reconnect with longstanding contacts while also forging new relationships with businesses and professionals we hadn't crossed paths with before.
Events like RIN London are invaluable for staying connected to the industry we serve – and for reinforcing our commitment to supporting the rail sector with the specialist workforce solutions it needs. We left energised and look forward to building on the connections made. Rail Live is next - watch this space!

International Women’s Day 2026
This month we were proud to celebrate International Women’s Day and recognise the talented women who help drive our business and the wider construction and rail industries forward. One of those women is Judita, a graduate civil engineer currently working on our Sizewell project. Judita was part of the NIS group and joined CRS straight from training at East Coast College.
International Women’s Day is a great reminder of the progress being made across our industry and the importance of continuing to encourage more women to pursue careers in our industry. CRS are proud to support and champion a more inclusive workforce – one where talent, determination, and expertise define success, not gender. When we open doors for women in rail, highways, and nuclear – we all gain. More talent. More perspective. More innovation. Stronger projects, stronger teams, stronger outcomes.
This international Women’s Day, CRS Resource Ltd celebrates every woman building, connecting, and powering the UK.
Worker of the Month
This month we celebrate Stephen Herbert as our Worker of the Month.
Stephen consistently goes above and beyond in supporting Balfour Beatty along with many of our other clients.
His dedication has made him one of the key drivers behind the high volume and quality of observations within the Balfour Beatty gang.
