An Intro from John Cheeseman, Managing Director
As we move further into the year, April feels like a good moment to pause and reflect on the great work that has taken place across the business since January. The first quarter has created real momentum, with an encouraging increase in opportunities coming through and our teams working at pace to respond, particularly across tender activity. This collective effort is helping to position the business positively as we continue to look ahead with confidence.
We have also been highly visible in the market over the past few months, attending multiple client‑led and networking events. These engagements have been invaluable in strengthening existing relationships, building new connections, and ensuring CRS remains firmly part of the conversation across our sectors. Alongside this, we are now recruiting for an experienced Recruitment Consultant with a proven track record of delivering workforce solutions into the Power & Water sectors. This role will be key in supporting our ambitions to enhance and expand our offerings into other sectors as the business continues to evolve.
Over the Easter period, I’d like to recognise the outstanding efforts of our CRS teams who helped to safely deliver critical blockade works. These projects demand the highest standards of planning, teamwork, and execution, and the way they were delivered reflects the professionalism and commitment that runs through the business.
Following a safe and successfully delivered first quarter, it’s imperative that we maintain this positive momentum. Safety remains at the core of everything we do, so I’d encourage everyone to continue looking out for one another and for those we work alongside. Thank you for your hard work and dedication so far this year—I’m excited about what we can continue to achieve together.
Stress Awareness Month
April is Stress Awareness Month - an important opportunity to highlight the role that mental wellbeing plays across our industry.
At CRS, we believe supporting mental wellbeing is just as important as delivering skilled, reliable teams. A strong workforce isn’t defined by capability – it’s built on wellbeing, resilience, and support.
That’s why we’re proud to offer our Employee Assistance Programme with Wellbeing Solutions, providing our workforce with access to confidential support, professional advice, and helpful resources whenever they need it. And don’t forget – our mental health mascot Mallard is always here to remind everyone that it’s okay to talk, check in with one another, and take a moment when things feel overwhelming.
This Stress Awareness Month, we’re encouraging everyone across the industry to:
Check in with your team and colleagues
Take regular breaks and manage fatigue
Speak up if you’re feeling overwhelmed
Look out for signs of stress in others
Promote a culture where mental health conversations are normal
Let’s build more than infrastructure. Let’s build a supportive culture where everyone feels valued
and supported.
Project Spotlight - Bushey Blockade
Over the Easter period, CRS Resource supported Octavius Infrastructure during the Bushey Easter Blockade, contributing to a major phase of the West Coast Main Line Power Supply Upgrade. Our teams were engaged in the installation of new cable routes, delivering essential enabling works to support future electrification and power supply enhancements along the route.
Working within the intense six‑day blockade, CRS Resource supplied four skilled civil gangs and three supervisors, who completed concrete and GRP cable route installations across multiple locations, supporting the wider programme of OLE and power supply upgrades.
The successful delivery of these cable route installations played a key role in preparing the infrastructure for future high‑voltage and signalling systems, reinforcing CRS Resource’s capability to support complex, time‑critical rail projects and our ongoing partnership with Octavius Infrastructure.
Worker of the Month
This month we celebrate Joshua Wilson as our Worker of the Month.
Joshua has been working with one of our new clients on a project and has received extremely positive feedback.
The praise reflects the high standard of assistance he has provided and the positive impression he has made while supporting the client.

Easter at CRS
It was a busy Easter season for CRS, we embraced the spirit of generosity, teamwork, and a little bit of friendly competition within the office.
In the true spirit of Easter, we began our celebrations by donating a selection of Easter treats to the residents of Downsview in Ashford, one of the Amber Foundation’s centres. The Amber Foundation does incredible work supporting young homeless people across the UK, providing them with a safe place to live, access to training, and the opportunity to build a brighter future. Supporting our local community is something we’re passionate about, and we hope our donations helped bring a few extra smiles this Easter.
Back at the office, things got competitive as we organised an easter egg hunt for the team - with a twist! Instead of traditional eggs, mini-Mallards were hidden throughout the office! After a closely contested hunt, the winner was Rae who was rewarded with a delicious Easter hamper.
To round off the celebrations, we headed into the Easter weekend with a wonderful selection of home-baked easter treats, kindly prepared by Michelle for the whole team to enjoy. Her efforts were greatly appreciated, and the treats didn’t last long!
Overall Easter at CRS was a great success, bringing the team together while also giving us the opportunity to support our local community.
