We are thrilled to announce a significant change in our Senior Leadership Team

We are thrilled to announce that there has been a significant transition within our leadership team at CRS Resource Ltd. Richard Smith has been appointed as our new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Mark Mason. Going forward Mark will continue working closely with both Richard and John Cheeseman, Managing Director.
Richard brings with him a wealth of industry and business experience, which he has gained during an impressive 38 year career to date. Starting his work life as an apprentice at Rolls Royce in Derby, Richard then entered the rail sector in 1994 during the privatisation period, where he spent the majority of his early rail years working for Balfour Beatty.
Fast forward to the year 2000, Richard then started his own Management Consultancy business, which he went on to run for 23 years, before eventually selling the business. Whilst running his own company, Richard utilised his extensive industry knowledge & engineering background in supporting many Major Infrastructure Projects in the supply of White Collar Resources & Consultancy services, whilst also using his expertise in guiding high level project programmes. This critical stage of his working career really helped to cement Richard as a respected figure within the Rail sector.
Richard has known Mark Mason for 16 years and during this time they have developed a close personal & business relationship, so when Richard left his previous business, it was only natural that they would both end up working closely together. This led to Richard joining CRS in January 2025 as a Non-Executive Director, which has provided him with the opportunity to better understand both the business and the tremendous people working within the company.
In his role as CEO, Richard will continue to focus on developing current business within the rail sector, whilst also strategically guiding the company as we look to diversify into new sectors.
A message from Richard on his new role;
“Having had a personal relationship with Mark for many years, it has given me the ability to understand the business, and then working as a Non-Executive for the last 10 months has given me a new appreciation of what an amazing business he’s created. I’m immensely proud and excited to now takeover as Chief Executive Officer. I’m looking forward to working closely with John and the rest of the team in what’s going to be an exciting new chapter for us all.”
From the team at CRS, we all wish Richard every success in his new role and look forward to the next exciting chapter of the CRS journey!
